Pet Connection Plans November Community Events

November is shaping up to be a very busy month for the volunteers of Pet Connection Programs Inc., a maternity and special care animal shelter located in Marilla.

On Friday, November 5, volunteers and puppies will visit one of Buffalo’s most historically significant buildings — the Larkin at Exchange Building — from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Annunciation School Holds Ice Cream Social and Book Fair

Students, parents, faculty and guests gathered at Annunciation School in Elma on October 20 for the annual Ice Cream Social, Book Fair and Halloween Party in the school, located at 7580 Clinton St. 

Highlights of the fun-filled evening included a pumpkin-decorating contest, face-painting and a visit from Clifford the Big Red Dog, star of the popular children’s book series.

Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic School in Elma, educating individuals to become leaders and reach their full potential in a family atmosphere rooted in Catholic tradition and Gospel values, is now on Facebook.

Offering academic programs for students in Pre-K through Grade 8, Annunciation is located at 7580 Clinton St. and currently serves the following school districts: Iroquois, Lancaster, Alden, East Aurora, West Seneca, Depew, Cheektowaga, Orchard Park, Alexander and Attica.

'Howl at The Ridge': Fun-Raiser to Benefit Chestnut Ridge Park

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – The Chestnut Ridge Conservancy, Inc., a not-for-profit 501(c)(3)organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park, NY, is pleased to announce plans for a Halloween Fundraiser: “Howl at the Ridge” to be held on Friday October 29, 2010 at the recently renovated Chestnut Ridge Casino inside Chestnut Ridge Park.

The event is open to the public. It begins at 8:00 p.m and will run through 11:00 p.m. In addition to seasonal cuisine, beer, wine, and soft drinks, the Conservancy is sponsoring a Chinese auction with numerous prize baskets, a silent auction for selected items, and 50/50 drawings. Music for the event will be provided by CJ Sound. The Conservancy will be selling assorted logo merchandise and accepting new members into the organization.

Annunciation School to Host Ice Cream Social & Book Fair

Annunciation School, 7580 Clinton St., Elma, will host an Ice Cream Social & All American Book Fair from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, in the school. The event is open to students and families. Members of the community who are interested in learning more about the school and parish are also encouraged to attend.

Books will be available for sale, as well as delicious ice cream sundaes for only $1. There will also be a pumpkin decorating contest, and children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes. Pumpkins entered in the contest should be decorated at home. If you would like to light up your pumpkin, please use a non-flammable light source.

Holiday Dinner Dance Featuring Jack Civiletto & The Pyramid Band to Benefit Pet Connection

Tickets are now available for a Holiday Concert/Dinner Dance featuring Jack Civiletto & The Pyramid Band that will take place from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, December 4, at the Hearthstone Manor, 333 Dick Road, Depew. Proceeds from the event will benefit Pet Connection Programs Inc., a special care shelter for dogs and cats located in Marilla.

Tickets are just $25 per person and include dinner, entertainment, a basket auction and raffles. A special door prize of four Disney one-day park hopper passes valued at $544 will be given away. Tickets for the event are presale only and can be ordered by calling the shelter at 652-0192.

Legislator Dixon Plans Hot Dog Roast for Saturday to Benefit Hamburg Library

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon, Hamburg, will host a Hot Dog Roast Fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Hamburg Public Library, 102 Buffalo Street, Hamburg. Proceeds benefit the library.

Legislator Dixon will be selling Sahlen’s hot dogs for $1.50, which includes a bottle of Mayer Brothers Spring Water.

The event will also include the Hamburg Library’s Pirate Party in celebration of International Talk-Like-A-Pirate Day. Attendees are encouraged to dress like a pirate. The party will also include pirate stories, crafts and a few surprises.
