Catholic Charities Holds Raffle of Harley-Davidson

Catholic Charities of Buffalo will give away a generously donated 1999 Harley-Davidson FLHR Road King motorcycle. All proceeds will benefit the 70 programs and services of Catholic Charities, including education and work readiness, counseling, basic assistance, and programs for older adults.

The motorcycle, with an approximate retail value of $8,000, was given to Catholic Charities by an anonymous donor. It is a touring motorcycle with two cylinders, four-stroke, 1450 cc, fenders and a Jimmy Buffett Parrot head mural on the tank (2-sided) and other detailing.

Only 200 tickets will be sold at $100 each and the drawing will be held at noon on May 9, 2014 at Catholic Charities Montante Administrative Center, 741 Delaware Ave., Buffalo.

To thank its customers for their patronage over the past 80 years, NOCO, a family owned and locally operated energy company, is celebrating its anniversary through an in-store contest.  On Monday, July 15, NOCO will be launching its 80th Birthday Bash Scratch & Win sweepstakes across all 35 NOCO Express locations. The stores will be decorated for a birthday bash and will offer free cupcakes to customers throughout the day, while supplies last.  In addition, customers will have a chance to instantly win one of approximately 10,000 coupons or prizes.

The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Board of Directors is holding its third annual poster contest to promote the outdoor market’s 2013 season. Entries for the poster competition are due by 5 p.m. Friday, March 8. Whether you’re a student studying the arts, a professional graphic designer or just someone with a creative streak, you’re invited to submit your design for an 11x17-inch color poster that accurately reflects the feel of the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market.

Miss Buffalo to Compete for Miss New York State

The current Miss Buffalo, Lonna McCary,  is gearing up to compete for Miss New York next week in Staten Island.  Contestants in the Miss New York pageant will compete in interview, swimsuit, evening gown, talent and on-stage question portions of competiton.

"It's been a really exciting experience to represent the Queen City throughout the year. I've met so many wonderful supporters throughout the year and I'm privileged to have the opportunity to bring the Miss New York crown home," said 21-year-old McCary.
