The Orchard Park Police Department is investigating a burglary and/or possibly a scam which occurred on 9/29/10, involving an elderly victim.

The victim was approached in his yard by a male who said he was contracted by the Town of Orchard Park to trim trees on his property. The suspect kept the victim busy by showing him what he was going to do and then left. The victim walked back into his house to discover it had been ransacked and a large amount of cash taken.

The “contractor” is described as a shorter white male, mid 40’s, dark complexion, stocky, and possibly Italian. No vehicles were observed in the area. This incident may be related to recent scams in other towns whereby elderly victims were targeted by someone posing as a contractor.
