Buffalo River Fest Park Hosts 3rd Annual “Wardstock”

The Valley Community Association will host their 3rd Annual “Wardstock”, presented by Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, on Saturday, August 2nd at the Buffalo River Fest Park, located at 249 Ohio Street, Buffalo, NY from 3pm-11pm.

Musical acts Classic Jam (formerly known as The Trolls) and Leon & The Forklifts will headline the neighborhood celebration. Classic Jam is a local band who are celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year.  They played in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s at Bishop Timon High School dances, parish events, and local taverns and have continued to entertain throughout the years in the WNY area.  Leon & The Forklifts play both original music and covering a variety of artists including Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Van Morrison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Pink Floyd, Sublime, and more.

First Student will provide free shuttle bus service from two locations for the Drums Along the Waterfront Tour of Champions event taking place at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, according to event organizer Jack Gaylord Jr. Featuring the top seven drum corps in the world, the event will take place at Robert E. Rich, Sr. All-High Stadium, 2885 Main St., Buffalo.

West Seneca’s New Outdoor Marketplace Lists July 24 Events

 

West Seneca’s new Main Street Marketplace, sponsored by the Western New York Federal Credit Union, returns from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24. The farmers’ and food producers’ market features nearly 30 vendors and local entertainment Thursday evenings through Sept. 4. 

The event takes place on the grassy hill at the corner of Union Road and Main Street, next to West Seneca Town Hall. In the event of extremely wet conditions, the market will move within the park, into the parking lot immediately in front of the West Seneca Ice Rink.

India’s Ambassador Mulay to Present Lecture at Daemen

Ambassador Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay, consul general of India in New York, will be the first international presenter in the Daemen College Distinguished Leaders Lecture Series being held at 4:30 p.m. July 25 in the Wick Campus Center Social Room.

“Emerging India and Indo-American Relations” will be discussed by Mulay, a career diplomat who has been with the Indian Foreign Service for more than 30 years.

Prior to his appointment as consul general in 2013, Mulay served as high commissioner of India to Maldives and is credited with making significant progress in Indo-Maldivian relations. He previously held posts at Indian missions in Tokyo, Moscow, Port Louis, and Damascus. He also had assignments in India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of Finance and was an advisor in the Cabinet Secretariat.

Seven Local High Schools to Host Drums Along the Waterfront Corps

 

The top seven drum corps in the world will begin arriving in the very early hours of Sunday, Aug. 3, for the annual Drums Along the Waterfront Tour of Champions event taking place at 7 p.m. that evening at Robert E. Rich, Sr. All-High Stadium, located at 2885 Main St., Buffalo. All of the corps will be staying at local high schools as they prepare for the big event. 

“Upon their arrival in Western New York they live a life of luxury,” joked event coordinator Jack Gaylor Jr. “Actually, they will be sleeping on gym floors trying to catch a few hours of sleep before getting up to rehearse all day. Corps are known to practice for up to 10 hours a day in preparation for a big show like the one coming to Buffalo.”

Art Mart — a unique outdoor arts and crafts supply sale, show and swap — highlights a list of upcoming events at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, 1168 Orchard Park Road, West Seneca. Held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, artists and crafters will be offering their work for sale at this special one-day event to benefit the gallery’s Art Scholarship Fund.

Free Concert, Scottish Festival Among August Highlights at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village

 

Four fun-filled events, including a concert by the Amherst Symphony Orchestra and the extremely popular Scottish Festival — are among the August highlights at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst.

Guest are invited to enjoy the sweet sounds of the Amherst Symphony Orchestra at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8. Light snacks and refreshments will be available, and the event will take place rain or shine. The concert is free and open to the public, and guests are encouraged to bring picnic baskets, chairs and blankets for their comfort.
