March of Dimes Celebrates Annual Signature Chefs Auction

The March of Dimes, Western New York Division presents the 2010 Signature Chefs Auction, “Feathers & Flair, A March of Dimes Monte Carlo Affair” on Friday, October 8 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel. Western New York’s finest chefs will offer their signature dishes coupled with wine tastings from regional wineries and accompanied by an array of unique live and silent auction items and entertainment. Everyone is invited to attend the evening, which raises money and awareness to save babies from prematurity, birth defects and infant mortality.

This year’s event promises to be an elegant night with some of the best restaurants in town. Featured dishes will be prepared by Alex’s Place, Blue Buffalo, Chef’s Restaurant, Fiamma Steak House, Harry’s Harbour Place Grille, Koi, La Scala, My Tomato Pie, Protocol Restaurant and Rich Renaissance Catering. Wine selections will be offered by Merritt Estate Winery.

Today Only: Red Cross and Buffalo Bills Seek Donors

The Buffalo Bills and American Red Cross Blood Drive will host their 4th Annual Blood Drive to be held at Ralph Wilson Stadium.  Quarterback Trent Edwards and safety George Wilson are the spokespersons for the event and are scheduled to show at 1:00 p.m.  In addition, special appearances will be made throughout the day by select Bills players.  

Presenting donors will receive a commemorative gift and be entered in random drawings for many great prizes.  Free parking and refreshments will be available.  Fans should bring their photo I.D. 

Walk-ins are welcome or fans can call 1.800.GIVE.LIFE to make an appointment.

Pet Connection Seeks Vendors for Popular Event

Have a business you'd like to promote or a product you’d like to sell? Pet Connection Programs Inc. is looking for vendors to participate in Tails on the Trails, their annual dog-walk fundraiser. The 2011 event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4. The cost to vendors is just $25, and tables, chairs, tents and publicity are provided. Space is limited, so book now by contacting Joe Kirchmyer at (716) 997-0152. This event annually attracts hundreds of participants — both the two- and four-legged variety!

 

Pet Connection to Host Chicken BBQ, Auction & Raffle on September 18

If you’re hungry for a delicious chicken BBQ or just have an appetite for a good time, stop by the Bowen Grove Shelter beginning at noon Saturday, September 18, for Pet Connection’s Chicken BBQ, Chinese Auction and 50/50 Raffle! The event will take place at the Bowen Grove Shelter, located at the intersection of Bowen and Broadway in Lancaster. 

The delicious chicken dinners, priced at just $9, will be prepared by Big Belly BBQ, voted the number one BBQ in Western New York! Take-out orders will also be available. All dinners include a half BBQ chicken, three sides, roll/butter, beverage and dessert.

Pet Connection Announces Additional Events During September

Pet Connection Programs, Inc., a special care shelter for dogs and cats located in Marilla, has added some new special events to its September calendar.

Volunteers will be grilling up delicious hot dogs and hamburgers from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. September 11 at Valu Home Center, 123 Grey St., East Aurora. Also on September 11, volunteers will be taking part in the Abbott Road Animal Hospital pet fair and open house from 1 to 3 p.m. The animal hospital is located at 3816 Abbott Road in Orchard Park.

Pet Connection to Hold Chicken Barbecue Fundraiser on Sept. 18

Pet Connection Programs Inc., a special care shelter for dogs and cats located in Marilla, will hold a chicken barbecue beginning at noon on Saturday, September 18, at the Bowen Grove Shelter, Bowen and Broadway, Lancaster. This event will feature Big Belly BBQ, voted the number one barbecue in Western New York! 

 

Dinners will include a half barbecue chicken plus three sides, beverage and dessert, and will cost just $9.

A Benefit for Aidan, This Saturday

In January of 2009 Aidan Radlich was diagnosed with a rare brain condition called hemimegalencephaly, a condition he has had since birth. Since then Aidan has battled epilepsy and severe seizures.

A fundraiser is being held Saturday, August 21, from 4 to 10 p.m., at DeMarco Grove, 3964 California Road, in Orchard Park, to help his family pay for brain surgery intended to alleviate this young boy’s symptoms.

Tickets are $20 and include food, pop and beer. There will be a Chinese auction, silent auction and 50-50 raffle.  Donations are also gratefully accepted at M&T Bank, 2050 Kensington Avenue in Snyder for those unable to attend (Attention: Aidan Radlich Benefit Fund).
