Old Fort Niagara's Castle by Candlelight

For two nights in December, visitors to Old Fort Niagara will experience the holidays as they were celebrated in early America. Historical characters will bring Christmas past alive with 18th and 19th century holiday recipes and portrayals of colonial-era people. The highpoint of the evening will be a traditional Feu de Joie (firing of joy), a nighttime musket and cannon salute.

Programs will take place from 7:00 pm through 8:30 pm on Saturday, December 11th and Saturday, December 18th. The historic French Castle (built in 1726) will be illuminated entirely by candles, as will the Fort's parade ground. The Fort's log trading post will serve as a colonial tavern complete with hot beverages and period music.
