Missing Man Found Dead After Bills Game | News
ORCHARD PARK, NY - Orchard Police say a 26-year-old man who went missing near Ralph Wilson Stadium after Thursday night's game has been found dead.
The man has been identified as David Gerken, Jr. a 26-year-old Palmyra, NY native.
Investigators from the Orchard Park Police Department say Gerken, who was at the game with his brother and a friend, was ejected from the game around half-time. They say he contacted his brother and said that he would meet them after the game at a nearby bar.
Officials say when Gerken's brother couldn't locate him, he contacted police who put out an "attempt to locate." Officials resumed their search for Gerken in the morning, with the help of Erie County Sheriff's Air One. Gerken's body was located in a stream at the bottom of a ravine behind the stadium.
The investigation is continuing, but Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz says the preliminary cause of death is an accidental drowning, possibly hypothermia.
The Buffalo Bills issued this statement:
"We are deeply saddened to hear of this news this morning. While the loss of life is always tragic, the loss of a young life is even more so. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family.
