Responsible pet ownership means making smart choices for your cat or dog. Whether looking to update your garden or renovate your home, making environmentally conscious decisions helps to reduce a pet's paw print and enriches the lives of our furry friends and the people who love them. Purina has partnered with Evergreen, an organization committed to building sustainable green cities, to offer a few easy updates that will help pet owners do their part for the environment.

Humans may sneeze and sniffle when trees and flowers start to bud in the spring, but many pet owners wouldn't know if their pet was suffering from treatable allergy symptoms, which are likely to occur at the same time of year.

According to the Pet Allergy Worldwide Survey (PAWS) sponsored by Novartis Animal Health, 44 percent of pet owners are unaware that their pet can suffer from chronic seasonal allergies, just like people.

Your four-footed friends could benefit from your taking four important steps to keep your pets in peak condition.

1. See the vet for regular checkups. Dogs and cats age faster than humans. They can grow up — and grow old — almost before you know it. Regular wellness exams let your veterinarian diagnose, manage and protect against potential health problems before they become serious.
