Friends of Harmony Offer Singing Valentines

Looking for an affordable and creative alternative to candy, jewelry and flowers for your sweetheart? Surprise them with a gift that they will cherish forever - a Singing Valentine. On February 13th and 14th, the Friends of Harmony, a local male a Capella chorus, will be sending authentic Barbershop Quartets to personally deliver Singing Valentines to people all over Western NY. The quartets, in full matching costume, will appear at homes, schools, restaurants and places of business to sing two love songs and to present a flower and a personalized Valentine along with a photo with the quartet commemorating the event all for just $45.00.

The Friends of Harmony will be holding its third annual Christmas benefit concert on Friday evening at 7:00PM at Sacred Heart in Bowmansville, NY located at 5337 Genesee Street.   Tickets are $15.00.   Kids under 12 are FREE.   Everyone is encouarge to bring a non-perishable food item.  All money and food received by this concert will go to the Food Bank of Western NY.  Questions?  Call Don Ehrenreich at (716) 573-5911

The Friends of Harmony male a cappella chorus is holding an Open House on Tuesday night, October 15th at 7:30 at Sacred Heart School located on 5337 Genesee Street in Bowmansville, NY (about 0.7 mile east of Salvatore's Italian Gardens Restaurant).    The chorus is preparing for their annual Christmas Concert to benefit the Food Bank of Western NY and guests are invited to be a part of it.    Come learn more about the chorus.  You may even get a chance to sing with us at the concert.   The chorus is actively auditioning all voice parts.

South Buffalo Alive Announces Successful ‘Bricks in the Bowl’ Campaign

 

Twenty engraved bricks were added to South Buffalo Alive’s “Bricks in the Bowl” in Cazenovia Park in early September. The 20 bricks were a one-year record for the fundraising event, according to Marge Ryan, president of the nonprofit organization.

“Bricks in the Bowl” is located next to the 100-year-old Frederick Law Olmsted Shelter House in Cazenovia Park and includes 250 square feet of personalized bricks within a landscaped perimeter. Brick engraving, provided by Stone Art Memorial Co. of Lackawanna, occurs just one time per year, typically in late summer or early fall.

Friends of Harmony to Perform Free Concert on 9/10 at Buffalo River Fest Park

The Friends of Harmony, WNY's premier male a cappella group, will perform a free concert at Buffalo's River Fest Park on Tuesday evening at 7:00 on September 10th.  Enjoy the songs from your favorite Hollywood movie in 4-part barbershop style harmony.  The show will culminate with a musical salute to the US Armed Forces for the brave work they do protecting us both at home and abroad.  For more information about this and other upcoming Friends of Harmony performances, contact Don Ehrenreich at (716) 573-5911.

$150,000 in Challenge Gifts for Mill Road Scenic Overlook

The Friends of Mill Road, the Western New York Land Conservancy and the Town of Aurora are very pleased to announce that they have received two challenge gifts for a total of $150,000. Town Supervisor Jolene Jeffe stated, “We are so incredibly grateful to these two families for their leadership contributions that will create a community asset with extraordinary benefits for our entire region. We know that the overlook will enhance the economic vibrancy of our community and the health and enjoyment of our children and families by providing a new place to experience this incredible view.”

Legislator Dixon Plans Community Meetings at Library, Village Hall

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon will host two community meetings in her district to meet with constituents and provide an update on Legislative items and other County matters.

The community meetings will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at Lakeshore Library, S4857 Lakeshore Road, Hamburg, NY 14075, and from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Village of Blasdell Hall, 121 Miriam Ave., Blasdell, NY 14219.

Legislator Dixon and her staff will also be available to discuss local and county issues and answer questions related to the budget, road projects, services and other items. Information concerning Senior Services, Social Services, Veteran Affairs, the County Clerk’s office and other County departments will also be available. Notary services are available free of charge. Yellow Dot packets will be distributed to anyone in need.
