Annunciation Students Donate 906 Pounds of Food to Food Bank of WNY

The spirit of giving was truly evident Wednesday as students and parents from Annunciation School in Elma delivered 906 pounds of food to the Food Bank of WNY! Special thanks to the local community for their contributions as well.

Offering academic programs for students in Pre-K3 through Grade 8, Annunciation currently serves the following school districts: Iroquois, Lancaster, Alden, East Aurora, West Seneca, Depew, Cheektowaga, Orchard Park, Alexander and Attica. Local High School Coaches Become Certified in Concussion Reduction Training

Coaches from West Seneca East Senior High School are the first from a Western New York school to become certified in Primordial Strength Inc.’s Concussion Reduction Basic Neck Training as part of their football strength training certification, according to Primordial President Steven Helmicki. Concussion certification and explosive power endurance certification is available for all sports and can be taught in your school.

Girls' Varsity Hockey Comes to Western New York

The organizers of the brand new Western New York Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Federation would like to thank everybody in the community who supported the league for their tireless hard work over the last few years. They expressed special thanks to the school boards, superintendents and athletic directors of the participating schools for their contributions.

The puck was dropped for the league's inaugural game between Williamsville and Monsignor Martin on Wednesday.

The participating districts are: Williamsville, Monsignor Martin, Kenmore, Amherst/Sweet Home, Orchard Park/Frontier, West Seneca and Lancaster.

A Busy Week Ahead at Annunciation School in Elma

You can tell the holiday season is upon us, and Annunciation School in Elma is full of the holiday spirit.

The eighth grade class is sponsoring a Christmas tree sale under the school’s pavilion from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 3; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, December 4; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 5.

Boy Scout Troop 325 will be conducting a bottle and can drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, December 4, in the church parking lot. Proceeds will help the Scouts purchase necessary camping and cooking equipment.

Annual Craft Fair Slated at Annunciation School in Elma

The annual St. Nick Craft Fair, Bake Sale and Basket Raffle will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 5, at Annunciation School, 7580 Clinton St., Elma.

 The event, sponsored by the Annunciation Home School Guild, will also feature decorated fresh wreaths for purchase, a “Taste of Annunciation” appetizer booth, refreshments and much more. Admission is free.

We Want Andy! Annunciation School Holding Food Drive

Students at Annunciation School, 7580 Clinton St., Elma, are collecting nonperishable food items — which will be donated to the Food Bank of WNY — in an attempt to bring Channel 2 Meteorologist Andy Parker and his Weather Machine to the school. Residents and businesses in the community are encouraged to participate by dropping off food items at the school office during school hours, 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 The school donating the most pounds of nonperishable food items by December 7 will be declared the winner. Because Annunciation is a small school, community involvement is extremely important.

Technology in the Classroom Appeals to Annunciation Students

Kindergarten students at Annunciation School in Elma spent part of their day today enjoying an interactive learning activity on the classroom’s SMART Table. This fun, multi-user table allows students to explore digital lessons, play educational games and complete interactive learning activities. Assisting them is kindergarten aide Caryn Wojtowicz.
