Annunciation Students Celebrate Halloween

Students, teachers, faculty and parents enjoyed a Halloween celebration at Annunciation School in Elma today. Events included a parade throughout the building and related classroom activities.

Annunciation School Holds Ice Cream Social and Book Fair

Students, parents, faculty and guests gathered at Annunciation School in Elma on October 20 for the annual Ice Cream Social, Book Fair and Halloween Party in the school, located at 7580 Clinton St. 

Highlights of the fun-filled evening included a pumpkin-decorating contest, face-painting and a visit from Clifford the Big Red Dog, star of the popular children’s book series.

Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic School in Elma, educating individuals to become leaders and reach their full potential in a family atmosphere rooted in Catholic tradition and Gospel values, is now on Facebook.

Annunciation School to Host Ice Cream Social & Book Fair

Annunciation School, 7580 Clinton St., Elma, will host an Ice Cream Social & All American Book Fair from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, in the school. The event is open to students and families. Members of the community who are interested in learning more about the school and parish are also encouraged to attend.

Books will be available for sale, as well as delicious ice cream sundaes for only $1. There will also be a pumpkin decorating contest, and children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes. Pumpkins entered in the contest should be decorated at home. If you would like to light up your pumpkin, please use a non-flammable light source.

West Seneca Marching Band to Host Music in Motion Show

The West Seneca Marching Band will host the largest high school field band show in Western New York this season, when the third annual Music in Motion competition comes to West Seneca East Senior on Sunday, Oct. 10.

With 10 area high school marching bands competing and an exhibition performance from the University at Buffalo’s Thunder of the East marching band, this will also be the largest Music in Motion event yet. Sponsored by the West Seneca West Band Boosters, the show will include performances by Orchard Park, Lancaster, East Irondequoit, Pioneer, Jamestown, Falconer, Leroy, Medina and Webster. UB’s band boasts a number of alumni from West Seneca, as well as from the other bands slated to perform.

Baseball Academy Adds Coaches, Offering Special Lesson Package and Hosting Tryouts

Attention baseball and softball players! The Baseball Academy of WNY, located at New Era Park, 4817 Lake Ave., Blasdell, has added two new instructors for its fall and winter schedule. The additions include Joe Mamott, a former professional pitcher with the Boston Red Sox, and Charlie Karstedt, a four-year player at the University at Buffalo.

The Academy is also offering a lesson package special on all regularly priced 10 packs. Anyone purchasing a 10-pack of private lessons by October 31 will be given one free lesson. Eleven lessons for the price of 10 — a $32 value!

Congressman Higgins to Host Military Academy Night

Students, Parents, School Administrators & Guidance Counselors Invited to Informational Meeting 

 

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) will host Academy Night 2010, an opportunity for high school students, their families, school administrators and counselors to find out more about Military Academy institutions, programs and the application process. 

“We invite those interested to come to Academy Night, hear about the schools first hand from Academy representatives and learn how to apply,” said Congressman Higgins.
